Self publishing vs Traditional publishing

There are many benefits to publishing traditionally, but before anyone could get there, and trust me, it isn't easy-- one has to undergo a lot!  And by a lot, I mean querying, and testing one's patience until an agent actually asks for the entire copy of the manuscript.

If you have some money to spare and you couldn't wait to have your manuscript published, self publishing may just be the right tool for you.

Here are some of the sites where a writer may self publish an eBook:
1.  Smashwords
2.  Amazon via KDP Select

These are the two sites that I've tried.  I have several short stories in Smashwords while my first full length book, about 118K words, is available in Amazon.  Its title is Breaking the Scroll.  http://www.amazon.com/Breaking-Scroll-Jin-Gaver-ebook/dp/B00HOIV640

Now, why am I writing this?

If you're reading my blog, chances are, you're interested in getting published too.  And the easiest way to do it is to signup in Smashword or Amazon KDP.  But this is only for soft-copies or eBooks.  If you want to sell hardcopies of your books, then print on demand options are also available.  Createspace, I believe, is what most indie writers trust.

Since I'm from the Philippines, I'll be making use of those that are available locally to minimize on shipping/ delivery costs.  Centralbooks or Books on demand are a few of my options locally.

If you have questions on self publishing, don't hesitate to leave a comment here.

Cheers!
